Obituary The following is extracted from a November 1918 copy of the Lowestoft Journal :- Corporal A.J. Read This N.C.O. who was in the Cadet Battalion of the K.R.R., before the war will be remembered as being in the "A" Company in this Regiment when it was on the coast, in fact it was during this period that he met his future wife. He was 25 years of age at the time of his death. We should like to take this opportunity of expressing our sincerest sympathy with the widow of our late comrade in her great bereavement.[The Londoner magazine, Apr-Jun 1919 - V.III, No.4 pg.115.] 'Soldiers Died in the Great War 1914-19' under the heading "25th (County of London) Battalion (Cyclists)" :- Read, Arthur John, born South Hackney, resident Hackney, enlisted Ashford, 740269, A/Cpl., died at home, 3 Nov 1918. In Memory of Corporal Arthur John READ who died age 25 on 03 November 1918 Husband of Elsie Perry (formerly Read), of 16, John St., Lowestoft.
